Catalog Program Chairperson FAQs

When will Fall 2014 orders be delivered to our Supporters?

  • Fall shipping begins the mid to late September and will continue into October.
  • Most web orders placed on or before Sept  30, 2014 will arrive by Oct 11, 2014.
  • Generally, catalog orders will arrive within 4-12 business days from the receipt and entry of the order.
  • Inclement weather at our shipping location or the destination may delay shipping. Orders shipping to USDA zones 8 through 10 may be delayed if the weather is too hot.
  • Orders received after the Oct 15, 2014 (Mail in orders) deadline are subject to product availability.

How late can we place an order for the Spring 2014 Program?

All orders for our spring program must be received by Oct 15, 2014 for best product availability. We will continue to fill orders that arrive after this date (mail in orders)until we run out of product.

How can I find out if my Organization's orders have been received and when they've been shipped?

Please call us at 1-888-833-1486 and we’ll be glad to give you any update about your Supporter’s orders.

When will I receive the orders so I can schedule a date for my Team Members to pick them up for distribution to their Supporters?

Flower Power Fundraising has eliminated this step in the usual Fundraising model, so you and your Team Members won’t have to lift a finger to handle delivery because we ship individual orders directly to your Supporter’s doorstep!

What if I want to receive all of the orders generated by our organization so the Team Members who made the sale can hand deliver to their Supporters?

Please call us at 1-888-833-1486 for details if you’d prefer to personally deliver orders to each Supporter.

Can I do a fundraiser outside the contiguous United States?

We’re sorry, but we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands or APO/FPO addresses because many of our products are restricted by agricultural regulations and/or shipping limitations. This program is currently not available in Utah.

What delivery method do you use?

We ship using a blended method called ‘Smartpost’ offered by FedEx and the US Postal Service. FedEx delivers the orders to a US Postal Service center, and the actual delivery of the order is made by Postal Carriers. ALL shipping addresses must be U.S. Postal Service friendly.

How much is shipping?

There is a flat $5 shipping charge for each Supporter’s individual order.

What payment methods do you accept?

CHECKS: We prefer a single check from the Chairperson for the sum of all your organization’s orders made payable to Flower Power Fundraising.

CREDIT CARDS: We accept Visa and MasterCard. If you use a credit card we ask you to alert your credit card company in advance that they will be receiving multiple charges (a separate charge for each delivery address) from Flower Power Fundraising. Failure to do this may result in a delay in your organization’s orders.

Payment must be received before we are able to process and ship your organization’s orders.

Bank charges and payment restrictions

Please be advised that Flower Power is not responsible for extra charges incurred by your financial institution. Flower Power does not currently accept Visa or MasterCard debit cards.

How much money do I send with my organization’s orders?

On your organization’s order form(s), add up the ‘Subtotals’ for the plants and bulbs sold. Divide the combined ‘Subtotal’ for all merchandise by half.

Next, add up all the Shipping & Handling Subtotals.

Now, add those two numbers together.

Your check should be made out in the sum of these two numbers. You will simply keep your organization’s profit of 50% of the merchandise total!

When does the Fall 2014 Program begin?

Information Kits/Sales Supplies will be available end of May, 2014. To request Sales Supplies for your Team Members, please call 1-888-833-1486. Shipping begins in mid September and runs through October. We sometimes delay shipping if the weather is too cold/hot either in our facility in Michigan or at the shipping destination.

What if we have a Supporter who isn’t happy?

We stand behind our products 100%. Our commitment to sending your Supporters top-quality plants and bulbs is unwavering. If any of your Supporters receive plants or bulbs that do not meet their quality expectations, please contact us immediately at 1-888-833-1486 and we will be happy to send a replacement if available, or issue a refund.

What if a Supporter has planting or horticultural questions?

Basic instructions are on the product labels of each plant or bulb. We also have a Planting Guide available here in the Customer Service section, with more detailed growing instructions. Here are some quick answers to common questions:

Which end is up on my bulbs?
Bulbs such as lilies and gladioli have a clearly defined, tapered tip that should be placed with the point up when planting. Other bulbs can be more rounded, but will have a flatter, ‘down’ side that usually show evidence of roots on the bottom. If you’re in doubt, we suggest planting sideways as the shoots will naturally find their way to the soil surface.

When do I plant my bulbs and plants?
Your bulbs and plants will have the best success if they are planted as soon as possible after receiving them.

My plants look dead!
We ship some of our plants such as Brookside Hardy Geranium as bareroot stock which, to the novice, looks like a bag of dead roots. Don’t be dismayed by their shabby appearance! Just follow the planting instructions on the label and you will be rewarded with a lush plant in no time at all.

On Line Program Campaign Manager FAQs

If I had run a campaign in a previous season, do I need to create a new campaign?

Our system treats each fundraising season as its own self contained entity. This means that you need to create a completely new account and campaign for each season.

Can I set up an online campaign with my cell phone?

Because of the variety of mobile phone hardware/software, we cannot guarantee that Online Fundraiser Setup will function without error on these devices. If possible, please use a desktop or laptop computer instead.

Frequently Asked Questions About Order Status

When does my Credit Card get charged?

You credit card will not be charged until we are actually ready to ship your product. If you are purchasing from a campaign early in the season, it may be a number of weeks before you will see this charge.

FedEx says my tracking number cannot be found in the system. Is my package lost?

Tracking numbers are not “trackable” until they are scanned at the FedEx depot. This can take up to 48 hours from the time it leaves our warehouse. If your package shipped more than 48 hours ago and your FedEx tracking number comes up as “not valid,” give us a call or send an e-mail and we’ll investigate.

Gardeners need a way to compare their garden climates with the climate where a plant is known to grow well. That's why climate zone maps were created. Zone maps are tools that show where various permanent landscape plants can adapt. If you want a shrub, perennial, or tree to survive and grow year after year, the plant must tolerate year-round conditions in your area, such as the lowest and highest temperatures and the amount and distribution of rainfall.

The 1990 USDA Hardiness Zone Map

The USDA Hardiness Zone Map is one of several maps developed to provide this critical climate information. The USDA map is the one most gardeners in the eastern United States rely on, and the one most national garden magazines, catalogs, books, and many nurseries currently use. This map divides North America into 11 separate zones. Each zone is 10 degrees fahrenheit warmer (or colder) in an average winter than the adjacent zone. (In some versions of the map, each zone is further divided into "a" and "b" regions.)

Great for the East

The USDA map does a fine job of delineating the garden climates of the eastern half of North America. That area is comparatively flat, so mapping is mostly a matter of drawing lines approximately parallel to the Gulf Coast every 120 miles or so as you move north. The lines tilt northeast as they approach the Eastern Seaboard. They also demarcate the special climates formed by the Great Lakes and by the Appalachian mountain ranges.

Zone Map Drawbacks

But this map has shortcomings. In the eastern half of the country, the USDA map doesn't account for the beneficial effect of a snow cover over perennial plants, the regularity or absence of freeze-thaw cycles, or soil drainage during cold periods. And in the rest of the country (west of the 100th meridian, which runs roughly through the middle of North and South Dakota and down through Texas west of Laredo), the USDA map fails.

Problems in the West

Many factors beside winter lows, such as elevation and precipitation, determine growing climates in the West. Weather comes in from the Pacific Ocean and gradually becomes less marine (humid) and more continental (drier) as it moves over and around mountain ranges. While cities in similar zones in the East can have similar climates and grow similar plants, in the West this varies greatly. For example, the weather and plants in low-elevation, coastal Seattle are much different than in high elevation, inland Tucson, Arizona, even though they're in the same USDA zone 8.
